Free Lunch

Free Lunch #47 (almost there edition)

Hello there you Pirates of the Pancreas. Today it’s Tuesday which means it’s time for a Free Lunch! If you don’t know what that means, I just type for five minutes on either my laptop or phone trying not to stop.

Starting at 7:08.

The reason there hasn’t been as many good posts recently is because i’ve been pretty swamped in schoolwork. It’s mostly stuff that I should have already finished, but didn’t because I was being lazy. That’s all come back to bite me now as everything is due on Thursday, the last day before fall break. I wouldn’t expect another post from me until Friday for the Free Lunch, sorry.

Anyways on to the usual discussion topics, recently i’ve been working on a couple different ideas for piano songs that could branch off into their own full song. Most of them are about thirty seconds long and are kind of boring, but i’m sure i’ll find one that interests me. On Guitar, i’m practicing my Pentatonic Blues Scale and it’s pretty fun. I think i’m going to try and make my own solo later using that, but not anytime soon. In Trumpet news, in class we have just been working on making sure that we are able to correctly play stuff and comprehend rhythms, so we aren’t practicing any pieces, which is disappointing. I am still working on Megalovania for the Trumpet though, and it’s still a huge challenge… but one day I will conquer it.

I don’t really have much else to say to you, except I started watching a new show today indicated by the Hello There You.

Thanks for reading all the way down to the bottom of this kind of boring post. I promise that this Saturday you’ve got a pretty good book review coming, so hold on for that!

Free Lunch #37 (“Happy” Fish Edition)

Hello there you happy fish. I want you to know that this is the one of the first few image results for “happy fish”.

I guess he does look happy. But more like a forced happy, like the kind that clowns at birthday parties have to put on to amuse the children. Anyways, back to Free Lunch. It’s been a really long time (2+ weeks) since I’ve posted a Free Lunch, but we’re back now! If you don’t know what Free Lunch is, basically, I just sit down with a device for 5 minutes and write as much as I can before I am out of time.

I’ll be starting at 5:31.

Now it begins. What begins, you might ask? If you did ask, I would be inclined to tell you that it’s Free Lunch. You already knew that, this was just filler. MWHAHAHA.

In meaningful or at least slightly thought poking news, we didn’t have too much work in our classes today. This was very welcome, as I was able to accomplish absolutely nothing in the free time I had for finishing early. Literally all I did was write the introduction to this post (fish and all), leave it, and play Santale and Bad Time Simulator for the rest of the time.

We still don’t have a band teacher, and the substitute got angry at me for correcting her. Ever since she was hired she’s been trying to get us to do non-band stuff in band. She had wanted us to write Haikus, and put that Haikus were 7-5-7 syllables…

I can’t wait until she’s gone. Though she did redeem herself slightly by letting me play Trumpet in the back room, I still don’t like her very much.

My time is up for this Free Lunch. I’m sorry that it was a little on the short side, but hopefully it retained your attention nonetheless.

Thanks for reading all the way down to the bottom of this post :1

Free Lunch #20

Hello there you staccato santas. How ya doin’ today?

Today is Wednesday, therefore, it is time for another Free Lunch, but this one is special! If you saw the title, you would know that this is Free Lunch #20. That’s a lot of free food, don’t you think?

If you don’t know what Free Lunch is, ask me in a comment 😀

Starting at 7:11.

Today started off meh, but gradually increased through the power of the ABCs to a yeh. I was a curator at the museum at my school, and I helped two different groups of elementary school children. I stood by the painting display cases and explained what the painting meant to me, and asked them what they saw in it.

Afterwards, they settled into the conference room, and we passed out paper, pencils, and crayons, and they drew for about half an hour. As I told you earlier, yesterday was our band concert. Unfortunately I did terrible and messed up all the difficult parts that I had been practicing on, but the band sounded fine as a whole. Go everyone else!

I printed out another copy of Megalovania to play on the Trumpet, as I misplaced my last one. When I got home today, I decided that instead of doing a normal warm-up, I would use that song, which is incredibly difficult to even play at half-speed. So I played at about half-speed, made some mistakes and practiced it for a bit, and when I was finished, apparently I was ready to play some high notes!

For context, I started playing about 9 months ago, and this is a really hard note to hit for an intermediate player.

Anyways, thanks for reading all the way down to the bottom of the post :3

Free Lunch #19

Hello there you Electronic Jazz Improvised Solos. Today is the day. Friday! Which means Free Lunch, and also it’s the cusp of the weekend. If you don’t know what Free Lunch is, I just type for 5 minutes, trying not to stop.

Starting at 10:33.

I feel as if this series is the only thing still connecting me to writing right now. I wish that I could have more to write about on the blog, but I just don’t seem to get any ideas. I think that I might start a new series just to keep myself going. If you have any ideas, it would be nice if you left a comment 😀

At my school, we only have Seven and a Half schooldays left until summer vacation! Today is the due date for our last big project, a reformation theme park, and I finished mine successfully on time. I’ll have to find a way to continue Trumpet in the summer so that I don’t lose everything that I’ve worked to be able to do on the instrument.

The new song should be out on my channel before Wednesday if anyone cares! First I have to polish the different songs with the help of a friend so that it’s ready to be posted. I haven’t decided in what order I will post the next few songs, so here’s a poll!

My time is up for today, I’ll see you the next time I have something worthwhile to say!

Musical Aspirations

Hello there you strings. Tonight I thought I’d tell you a bit about what I’m doing musically and what I plan to do.

At the moment, I play Trumpet, Piano, and Guitar. I’m mediocre at Trumpet, and relatively basic at Piano and Guitar. I’ve made a few songs on the keyboard at my house, including “a mantis shrimp” (named by riseofthechairs), and other currently unreleased tunes.

I started using an app called Yousician, which is very useful. It gives you a free hour or so long Guitar, Piano, Ukelele, and Bass Guitar lesson every 12 hours, which is nice.

Tomorrow me, my brother, and my dad are going to a music store to restring the guitar that was fished out of a closet for me back home. I can play a tiny bit on the Guitar already because at Jamie’s house he taught me the basics.

I have also been unsuccessfully trying to learn how to double tongue notes on the Trumpet. It’s difficult for me ;-;

With Jamie and I using our abilities together, we will be able to use Guitar, Piano, Trumpet, Alto Saxophone, and Snare Drum on the album, along with lots of our fellow band classmates who I hope will help.

Jamie is much, much better at Piano than me, and together with a Trombonist in our class, we’re composing a song that starts as a Piano solo, and finishes with 4 instruments together at once, called “A Midsummer’s Ice Stream”.

That’s all I can think to write at the moment. I’m kinda tired, so no Dictionary Taboo this time. Because of the before mentioned tiredness, I probably misspelled some stuff, so comment if you see any mistakes.

Free Lunch #9

Hello there you prophets. Today I have one of the first Free Lunch’s since the revival that hasn’t been late! I’ll start typing at 10:36, and stop at 10:41.

Today has been good so far. This morning I had a Trumpet lesson, and Jamie was there too so we practiced Fly Me To The Moon on our instruments while the teacher played the piano for it. I can get through most of the song at the moment, but there are some difficult rhythms (at least for me). At the moment I’m listening to DARE by Gorillaz. I just finished a vocabulary test in English, and I managed to get both high scores for Gravity and Match for the end 😀

Even though I’m sure Victoria is plotting to steal my leaderboard position as I type this.

I caught a wild Magmar with 1000 something CP at the bus stop at the other day on Pokémon Go. Now Fire Coming Out Of A Monkey’s Head is on. That’s a good song with spoken word portions, so look it up if that interests you. There was an announcement that told all band students to go to the band room, and it was for a brief meeting, where my chess club instructor tried to recruit more members. I think we got like 3 or 4 new people out of an entire crowded room.

And it’s 10:41.

St. Paul and The Broken Bones and Converse

Hello there you anonymous pumpkin dances (Hello there submitted by ArmyOfLamps)

Today I went to a local radio station (Lightning 100) and saw a mini-concert by, as the title suggests, St. Paul and The Broken Bones. There was a trumpeter there as well who was fantastic. The whole band did amazing, and the singer’s voice was incredible.

In other news, for the past few days I’ve been searching the internet for a pair of Gorillaz Converse in my size. Unfortunately, they came out almost 5 years ago and there are barely any left in ANY size. So I was thinking I could attempt to draw something cool on the next pair of Converse I get, which will be white so I can add my own decorations. On them, I want to have a TØP symbol, 2D’s head, and some other stuff. But my worry is that whenever it rains, the designs will just fade away. The solution to that is to use permanent marker, but that means that I’ll have to find someone who can draw something perfectly first time in permanent marker ON A SHOE.

Also I’m interested in the piano, so I’m gonna go bug Brendan to teach me.

Hello there, ya double spaced essays, how are you doing? I’m well. I’ve been working on some command block stuff which is on the channel now here, if you want to see it. If not, don’t worry, because I have non-YouTube exclusive content for you right here!

Today in Science class, we played a game where the teacher (from now own referenced as Mr. McFerren) reads the definition of a science word and we turn around, and slap one of the note cards with the words on them he has glued to the board. Basically, it’s two people, and whichever one hits it first wins. The winner gets to pick their next opponent, and if you win three rounds in a row you get a piece of candy. Last time we played I got a Reese’s Cup, but unfortunately I didn’t win this time. But me, Jamie, and Victoria (girl in our class) made a candy truce, so that if any of us win candy, we split it into 3 parts and share. Victoria won a match, so I still got a bit of a Snickers Bar 😀

In Band, I’m still working on sight reading music, but I usually write down the fingerings on the sheet music so that I don’t have to read the notes (yes, I know i’m lazy). Also, I have a strange desire to learn that Trumpet music from the YouTube ad about the new Pixel phone. If you don’t know what that music is, you can listen to it here if ya want.

I have nothing else to talk about 😛

If you read all the way to the bottom, congratulations, you’re awesome! If you didn’t then how are you reading this now :O

The Happenings

Hello you people of the near future, today I’m going to tell you what’s happening for no reason 😀

In ELA class, we are writing an argumentative essay about the relevance of HBCUs (historically black colleges and universities) in the U.S.. I believe they are but lots of people have different opinions on this, thus the argumentative part of argumentative essay. Meanwhile in Math we are learning very, very, very easy One Step Equations, and doing a weird dance to help us remember the steps. We just finished covering sexual reproduction in Science class and have moved on to genetics, which I am happy of, because it was pretty awkward.

I’m getting slightly better at Trumpet as I practice more in Band. BUT GUESS WHAT? I can play Bergentrückung! You can listen to the song here if you have no idea what that is. (It’s a song from Undertale)

That’s about everything that matters right now, so I suppose
