song of the day // redbone – childish gambino
. . .
if you thought i only ate instant noodles and velveeta macaroni – you were wrong.
i haven’t slept for the past 3 days, as my nights have been fueled by thai food and red bull.
but i make my own thai food.
i am an innovator.
you can see my insomniac self coming through, so let’s just get onto the recipe before I end up sounding like drunk Putin.
. . .
1 head lettuce
2 packs asian sesame sauce
1 jar of Hoisin sauce
1 tsp chopped ginger
2 ounces boca beef (fake beef)
1 head purple lettuce
1 leak or asian onion thing, I forget the name
1 jar water chestnuts
. . .
step 1 //
mince onion into 1/4 inch cylinders, chop carrots and purple lettuce into thin strips, and separate lettuce from stem to form bowls.
step 2 //
place 12′ skillet on medium-high heat with 2 tsp of olive oil. Place boca beef into skillet and sear for 5-10 minutes. Use spatula to stir and evenly cook beef.
step 3 //
in a small mixing bowl, add asian sesame sauce and half of the diced onions. Mix well.
step 4 //
layer about 2 pieces of lettuce to form a bowl. Add chopped purple lettuce, carrots, and residue of lettuce head.
step 5 //
when boca beef has reached a minimum internal temperature of 145 degrees, strain of excess oil and fat.
once strained, place beef back into skillet, and add hoisin sauce, water chestnuts, and ginger. Mix well for 2-3 minutes.
step 6 //
place hoisin beef into lettuce bowls, and drizzle sesame sauce carefully on top.
step 7 //
plate dish, adding a dollop of Sriracha onto plate. Serve with water or milk to tone down spiciness.
cooking w cat will be posted mon-fri // 7-8 pm // EST/ST time.
