my song “eigengrau”

hOI!

Before I post this song, I just gotta say this: I have 13 songs on my album now!!! I’ve written so much in the past month, it’s crazy.

Here’s the updated tracklist:

  1. broken one
  2. scarlet and crimson
  3. third
  4. teardrop rain
  5. bathwater
  6. bitter sugar
  7. to jupiter
  8. pluto’s acid
  9. without a moon
  10. drunk
  11. poison
  12. earthquake
  13. eigengrau

“eigengrau” is the final track, because I believe it suits the finality of the album well.

After all, the word eigengrau means The dark grey colour seen by the eyes in perfect darkness as a result of signals from the optic nerves.” (thanks Wikitopia). It’s the color you see when your eyes are closed.

That being said…

“eigengrau”

eyes are open
colors of day
and colors of night
if you’re still awake
eyes are open
your brain goes to greet
the reality that awaits you
the moment you see
when the eigengrau subsides
and morning comes
you open your eyes
and you wake up
if all comes down to it
and you’re left in gray
you have to paint a color
or the eigengrau stays.
eyes are closed
as you blink
your dreams are hidden
in their microsleep
while you drift
your eyes are closed
kaleidoscopes hide
in your restless doze
and when the eigengrau slips
and you’re up again
there’s more to life than sleep
counting minutes by tens
if all comes down to it
and you’re left in gray
make the most of the darkness
and use it to paint
i’m sorry
but it’s time
to wake up.
 –
i’m sorry
but it’s time
to wake up.
i’m sorry
but please
wake up.
you have people
waiting for you
to wake up.
take the eigengrau
carry a piece of it with you
so you always have
a sanctuary to run back to.
So, it represents the finality of the album because it talks about sleep.
There you go!
Feel free to leave feedback in the comments or something…I don’t know…
Gotta go do 8 more hours of math.
Have wonderful lives.

*sorry i didn’t do this again, I don’t what would be theatrical to say about my compositions….*
